Future Plans & Resources

HIV/AIDS Prevention

BIHD plans to give specific attention to HIV/AIDS prevention. We will conduct a pilot voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) initiative to ascertain the actual number of people infected with the virus, enabling us to provide meaningful support for affected households. Awareness campaigns on HIV/AIDS will also be launched in urban and rural areas.

Water Scarcity Interventions

Recognizing water scarcity as a significant hazard for people and animals, BIHD intends to intensify sustainable interventions alongside relief support to address this critical issue.

Educational Support and TVET

Education is a priority. We have been supporting schools with scholastic materials and renovations, and we plan to intensify these efforts. BIHD aims to increase employable skills for youth in Puntland through vocational training programs (TVET), ensuring a skilled workforce for the future.

Agricultural Support for Farmers

BIHD will enhance support for local farmers through various initiatives aimed at improving agricultural practices, increasing food security, and promoting sustainable farming. This includes training programs, access to resources, and facilitating market connections for farmers.

Youth Livelihood Activities

We will build the capacity of community members to support livelihood activities for youth. Various projects are planned, including a Youth Apprenticeship Scheme, which is crucial for guiding and supporting youth in engaging in productive activities to prevent disillusionment and reduce the risk of criminal activities.

Human Rights Approach

Human rights are central to BIHD’s programming. We will enhance our capacity and that of our member organizations to adopt a human rights approach to programming (HRAP). Gender issues, child rights, and youth rights will be integral to all programs, promoting democratization and peacebuilding principles.
